Admission to BCA
An admission to the BCA Course is made through entrance examination conducted by the college itself. The test will carry 75 marks and will comprise of General English, General Mathematics, General Knowledge and Management. Further, 10 marks each for matriculation and 10+2 examination on the basis of percentage, marks scored will be given. While computing merit, an additional weight age of 5 marks obtained in 10+2 examination will be given to a candidate. If he/she is having commerce/ mathematics/economics as one of the subject. Further 10 marks for group discussion and personal interview. The candidates are also required to undergo group discussion and personal interview after passing out admission test.

Reservations:- For the Subsidized Seats reservations as per the H.P. University rules:
- Scheduled Cast 15%
- Scheduled Tribe 7.5%
- Physically Handicapped 30%
- Sports Persons 5%
- Cultural Activities 5%
Provided further that the seats reserved for SC and ST candidates are inter-changeable if eligible candidates are not available in other category. Admission to seats reserved for the sports and cultural activities quotas will be made as per the procedure prescribed by H.P. University. In case eligible from the reserved category do not apply for admission, the seats will be transferred to the open category.
Eligibility Conditions:- Candidates who have passed 10+2 examinations from HP Board / CBSE / ICSE or any other examination considered equivalent to 10+2 by the Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST category) shall be eligible.
Bases of Admission Subsidized/Non subsidized seats :- Admission will be made on the basis of an entrance test and the academic performance of the candidate at the matriculation and 10+2 level. The Entrance Test will have 70 MCQ’s (Multiple Choice Questions) in basic Mathematics, General English, General Science and General Knowledge. The academic performance of the applicant in the matriculation and +2 examinations will be directly converted to points on the basis of the percentage obtained in each of examinations. The
candidate’s performance in the Matriculation will be
marked out of 10 and the performance in the 10+2
examination will be marked out of 20. The list of
candidates who will be offered admission will be
finalized in order of merit on the basis of marks secured
out of 100 (70+10+20=100)
Age Limit:- Maximum upper age limit for admission to BCA course is
21 years for General Category, 24 years for SC/ST
category 23 years for girls candidate, as on the 1st July
of the year covered the Vice-Chancellor may permit age
relaxations up to maximum of three month.
The documents will be attached with application:-
- Attested copy of the Matriculation Certificate.
- Attested copy of the 10+2 certificate
- Attested Character Certificate issued by the
head of Institution last attended
- Attested copy of the relevant certificates, if
admission is sought under a Reserved Category.
Note:- Candidates have to produce the original
documents during the time of admission.
Course Outline:- The BCA is three-year program. The curriculum covers
in detail, the software aspects of systems
programming, networking, wireless and mobile
communications, database systems, data warehousing
and data mining, multimedia communications,
embedded systems, client-server architecture and web
engineering in addition to the core subjects such as
programming concepts, data and file structures, 'C'
programming, computation technologies, computer
graphics, systems programming and operating systems.
Most of the subjects have associated laboratory
exercises and mini projects. The final semester is
dedicated for full time project to be carried out in a
reputed industry. The department has a good record of research activities with many publications in
international and national journals and conferences.
Students also undertake quality project works and publish papers at various prestigious conferences/student paper presentation contests under the guidance of faculty members. The students have excelled in their assignments in different organizations over the years.
